Thousands of Australian cancer patients will be given a new shot at life under a $1.1 billion package handing them access to a breakthrough drug. Under one of the biggest ever listings on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, Opdivo will be made available to lung and kidney cancer patients. From August 1, about 4500 cancer patients a year will be able to access the groundbreaking drug currently worth $130,000 a year for just $38.80 a treatment under the Federal Government subsidy.
