Melbourne specialists are using a novel technique to try to restore potency to men after surgery for prostate cancer. Results of their pilot study, presented at the Asia-Pacific Prostate Cancer Conference in Melbourne on Friday, showed eight out of 10 regained their potency. To be admitted to the study the men had to meet strict criteria and of the successful eight, half still needed Viagra-type drugs or penile injections in order to function. These hadn't worked for them previously. The technique uses microsurgery and nerve grafts. This novel technique builds new nerve circuits.
