Screening: Genetic trials target rare-cancer patients

Relatives of Australians battling rare cancers will have full-body scans to detect the disease “silently” lurking in their bodies under a revolutionary program. As part of the Australia first scheme, those with rare cancers will be linked to clinical trials specific to their genetic mutations rather than the organ their cancer is in, enabling more accurate, personalised treatment expected to help increase survival rates.
